Our Fast Paced World
September 15, 2016
Past generations have said it and looking back at them we wonderful how could they think that their lives were hectic. It seems like everything has to be NOW. Everyone wants instant gratification. In the craft world, patterns are marked “Fast and Easy” or “Do in an hour”. Where once it was okay not to have the first of anything you made be perfect, it seems that is what is expected from people today. No mistakes – ever. That is a bunch of bologna. Erasers were put on pencils because mistakes happen. Period. Especially when learning something new or experimenting. Honest people will tell you that they improve at their craft/art over time. To truly be a craftsperson means to take TIME, to do the actually work and to learn about your craft. Over time you improve. So instead of choosing a “quick” craft, choose one that you can learn and grow with. One day you can be called a master craftsman and won’t that feel great?
